The structure of the antifungal antibiotic versicolin.
The established metabolites of Aspergillus versicolor include numerous xanthones and anthraquinones, and a substituted imide1}. Recently Dhar and Bose2) reported the isolation of a new antifungal antibiotic, named versicolin, from the culture nitrate of a strain of A. versicolor. Low yielding cultures of A. versicolor could be regenerated by mutagenic treatment3*. Versicolin was notable because...
متن کاملIn vitro studies with ambruticin, a new antifungal antibiotic.
The in vitro antifungal inhibitory activities of ambruticin and of various antifungal drugs of choice against 190 fungal pathogens representative of the major human mycoses were compared using a modification of the ICS agar dilution technique. Ambruticin compared favorably with amphotericin B and miconazole when tested against the dimorphic pathogens Coccidioides immitis, Histoplasma capsulatum...
متن کاملHistidinomycin, a new antifungal antibiotic.
A new antifungal antibiotic named histidinomycin was isolated from the broth filtrate of a streptomycete, tentatively designated as isolate H 878-MY 1. Histidinomycin was purified as the monohydrochloride and the molecular formula was proposed to be C22H30N8O11.HCl. The antibiotic gave histidine by acid hydrolysis. Histidinomycin showed rather narrow antimicrobial spectrum for only few genera o...
متن کاملA new antifungal antibiotic, trichostatin.
A new antibiotic, trichostatin, was isolated from the metabolites of strains of Streptomyces hygroscopicus. It is active against trichophytons and some fungi. The structure was determined to be a derivative of a primary hydroxamic acid by chemical and spectroscopic evidences.
متن کاملSynerazol, a new antifungal antibiotic.
Synerazol, a new antifungal antibiotic, was isolated from cultured broth of Aspergillus fumigatus SANK 10588. The structure was determined based on NMR and mass spectral evidences. Synerazol was found to be a related substance to pseurotin A. Synerazol was active against Candida albicans and other fungi, and showed marked synergistic activity with azole-type antifungal agents.
